May 13th - Visit to the National Gallery of Ireland

On Wednesday May 13th our students will visit the National Gallery of Ireland. The Gallery houses the Irish national collection of Irish and European art.

The collection includes 14,000 artworks, including 2,500 oil paintings, 5,000 drawings, 5,000 prints along with some sculpture, furniture and other works or art. The gallery has an extensive collection but is notable for its Italian Baroque and Dutch masters painting. The collection spans from the 14th to the 20th centuries and includes all the major continental schools.

Irish painting is charted from its re-emergence in the 17th century to Jack B. Yeats, Ireland's most important 20th century artist and brother of William Butler Yeats, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature.
